Scrappage incentive scheme sparks new automotive file

June 10th, 2009 · No Comments

The UK Government’s new scheme to halt the slide of motor sales and help the environment – by offering incentive allowances for those trading in old bangers for new cars – has prompted a new database of prospects, aimed at car makers and dealerships.

In response to the Scrappage Incentive Allowance (SIA), London-based Scientia Data has launched the Active Auto 10-Year file.

Profiling singles, families and matureds who qualify for the SIA (ie have owned a pre-1999 model vehicle for more than 12 months), are transactionally active and have high credit scores, Active Auto 10-Year offers car manufacturers and new car dealerships/marketers a link to affluent and aspirational prospects with a demonstrated propensity to purchase.

Scientia Data’s MD, Dawn Orr, said: “With new car sales slumping by more than 30 per cent since January, we were approached by several clients wanting a bespoke combination of vehicle registration information, transactional data and credit scoring in order to boost sales and take advantage of the Scrappage Incentive Allowance.

“With new car manufacturers and dealerships feeling the pinch at present – much like the rest of us – Scientia Data is pleased to be offering this integrated data file of 1.1 million prospect records extending across all UK regions which includes postal, email, telephone and SMS/mobile contact information.”

The file can be customised to accommodate user variables – whether by vehicle type, geo-banding, age or income, as examples – and will be available until March 2010 (the SIA’s current termination date).
