Green issues for direct mailers – date for debate

September 14th, 2009 · No Comments

Postal advice consultancy, UK-based ONEPOST, is to host an industry forum at Manchester United Football Club next week (Wednesday September 23), entitled: ‘The Environmental Challenge – Can Direct Mail Deliver?’.

Speakers include Alex Walsh from the UK Direct Marketing Association (DMA) – presenting on postal affairs, the new Postal Services Bill and legislation that will affect the industry – and Graham Cooper, MD of ONEPOST – presenting key issues of the environment challenge, such as making mail media both responsible and sustainable for the future as well as helping to reduce carbon footprint and landfill.

Arthur Porter, publisher for Crain’s Manchester Business, will blow the final whistle and lead a general debate on the issues raised by the presenters.

Cooper said: “We are pleased to be hosting this event at a time when we are challenged with protecting the industry against proposed government legislation, threats from other media and the environmental lobby. At no time has it been more important for us to join together and demonstrate our responsibility to the industry.”

Alex Walsh at the DMA, added: “Following environmental best practice is commercial best practice. Direct marketers who do this will fare much better than those who don’t as legislation starts to come into effect.”

The event has limited places available – to register, call +44 (0)1275 801012 or email: Luan.Wise@ONEPOST.co.uk

The event is free for DMA members and £19 (+VAT) for non-members. A complimentary breakfast will be served.
