Coca-Cola has launched its biggest-ever global advertising campaign, supporting the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The soft drinks giant is one of the major sponsors of the football spectacular, which is being staged in South Africa from June 11 to July 11.
‘History of Celebration’, is part of a series of Coca-Cola commercials and has just been aired on TV and in cinemas in South Africa. It features Cameroonian football legend Roger Milla and the music of Somalian hip-hop artist K’Naan, whose track is already climbing up the world’s music charts.
The ad focuses on 1990 FIFA World Cup hero, Roger Milla, who became the first African player to score a FIFA World Cup goal and then danced his now legendary joyful ‘corner dance’ in front of a Coca-Cola perimeter board; making him forever a Coca-Cola global football ambassador.
Zayd Abrahams, head of Sparkling Beverages for Coca-Cola South Africa, said: "The commercial captures the emotion and joy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and marks a great moment in football history where an African legend made history and taught the world how to celebrate – allying it with Coca-Cola’s ‘Open Happiness’ brand platform."
The ‘Celebration’ theme of the global Coca-Cola commercials will be supported via digital and mobile programmes.
